Born in 1968 in Montreal, David Verchere is the son of prominent tax lawyer Bruce Verchere and software entrepreneur Lynne Verchere, whose company Manac Systems became the largest provider of legal software for lawyers in the world before being sold to Gulf and Western in 1988.
After the 1995 Quebec independence referendum made employment opportunities scarce in Montreal, Verchere relocated to New York City, initially finding work at a small promotional agency under NAFTA work provisions.
He founded Verchere Group, a sales promotion agency that worked with major brands including Estée Lauder and L'Oréal, and served as agency of record for the Clinique Happy Brand Launch and the Iridium Satellite Phone launch. The agency later became CoGear and was sold in 2001 to Axis Promotions.
He subsequently ran Buttonwood Technology Group, a B2B exchange for the sales promotion industry that managed hundreds of millions in transactions for major firms. He holds several patents focused on procurement exchanges and complex product configuration, with patented methods licensed to a leading publicly traded patent licensing firm.
Verchere also founded PostHelpers, a platform helping companies manage and distribute corporate social media content.
He has been involved in human rights lobbying, playing a meaningful fundraising and lobbying role in passing New York State's Marriage Equality Act, Sexual Orientation Non-Discrimination Act and the Dignity for All Students Act.
